ASTREA
SWARM INTELLIGENCE ROBOT RESEARCH
A PROJECT BY THE JAVA INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS SWARM ROBOTICS?
This project aims to develop a swarm robotics system focusing on fundamental concepts like decentralized control, self-organization, and emergent behavior, with the goal of producing a valuable outcome that satisfies industrial requirements.
DECENTRALIZED CONTROL
Robust systems with no single point of failure.
SELF-ORGANIZATION
Complex behaviors from simple, local interactions.
EMERGENT BEHAVIOR
Collective intelligence greater than individual parts.
Our Core Goals
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Swarm Dynamics
Investigating fundamental principles of swarm behavior, communication, and cooperation.
Hardware Prototyping
Developing and testing physical swarm robots to validate concepts in real-world scenarios.
Algorithm Development
Designing and optimizing algorithms for exploration, mapping, and object manipulation.
Application Exploration
Identifying potential applications in disaster response, environmental monitoring, and logistics.
SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
A synergistic blend of carefully selected components and custom-developed software to enable effective swarm coordination and intelligence.
HARDWARE
Each robot features an Arduino/ESP32, "TT" gear motors, IR proximity sensors, and nRF24L01 communication modules, powered by a 3.7V LiPo battery.
